Solitude

For this one I wanted to work on the face of a lying person. Recumbant figures have always been a part of the artistic tradition with the sense of sadness and vulnerability they convey. For this close-up brick painting my glazing painting (a superimposition of matte and transparent plates) allowed me to create an illusion of warmth and humidity on the face, as if the subject had been captured moments after crying. I believe this is the highest range of tones I ever used in my brick corpus and i had a great hard time negotiating transitions between various hues of warm and cold tones.
